Lady Bucs Sweep Blazers

Hailey Gillis led the Lady Bucs with 14 kills in a three-set win at Valdosta State Saturday afternoon.
Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs wrapped up a six-match road trip with a three-set win at Valdosta State Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bucs (15-8, 8-3 GSC) took control early, rattling off six straight points to take a 6-1 lead on their way to a 25-13 win in the first set.  The second set saw the Lady Bucs win 25-22 in a set featuring eight ties and three lead changes, with no lead larger than three points for either squad.  The fourth set was another nip-and-tuck affair, with the Lady Bucs digging out of a 20-17 deficit with six straight points as they went on to win 26-24.

Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led the Lady Bucs with 14 kills and 12 digs, and Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added 10 kills.  Kristina Headrick (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) collected a team-best 20 digs, along with 11 from Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) and 10 from Lauren South (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS).  Miles dished out a match-best 43 assists.

Tania Tauillili led the Blazers with 10 kills. Ashley Lala had 26 assists, and Chelsea Luttfring and Katie Onushko added 15 digs each.

The Lady Bucs return home Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they host Union.
