Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga.—Host West Georgia swept the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon in the regular season finale for both squads.
The Wolves (15-14, 10-6 GSC) cruised to a 25-16 win in the first set, and they rallied from a 23-21 deficit to win 25-21 in the second set. In the third, the Lady Bucs (18-11, 11-5) squandered a 24-21 lead as UWG scored six of the last seven points to win 27-25 and claim the match.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) picked up 42 assists for the Lady Bucs, setting up
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) for a match-best 13 kills.
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) pounded 11 kills with four blocks, while
Kristina Headrick (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) notched a match-high 18 digs.
Lesley Bemis led the Wolves with 10 kills, and Amanda Miller had 37 assists. Emily Reul tacked on a team-high 10 digs to go with nine kills.
The Lady Bucs return to action in the GSC Tournament in Pensacola, Fla., Friday against No. 7 seed West Alabama. The semifinals are set for Saturday night, with the championship match slated for 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
