Box Score MEMPHIS—Sisters
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas, Carroll HS) and
Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas, Carroll HS) combined for 32 kills and a .397 hitting percentage to lead the first-place Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to a four-set win over Alabama-Huntsville Friday night at Canale Arena.
The Lady Chargers (7-7, 1-3 GSC) took the first set 25-22 as they scored eight of the last 10 points to spoil a 20-17 CBU lead. The Lady Bucs (9-3, 4-0) stormed back with a 25-17 win in the second set, jumping out to a 9-3 lead and never allowing UAH closer than four points again. The Lady Bucs finished the third set with 12 of the last 15 points to win 25-15 after UAH trimmed the CBU lead to 13-12, and the Lady Bucs put it away with a 25-19 win in the fourth set as Alexis Gillis pounded a kill for the match's final point.
Hailey Gillis pounded 18 kills, one off her career-high, and hit .457, while Alexis Gillis added 14 kills with a .333 hitting percentage.
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) tacked on 10 kills with a .389 hitting percentage as the Lady Bucs hit .321 as a team.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had a match-best 43 assists, and
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) collected a match-best 23 digs.
Angela Thurmond paced the Lady Chargers with 17 kills, and Kelsey Williams added 11. Kelly Wilson led UAH with 24 assists, and Kennedie Lariscy posted a team-high 16 digs.
The Lady Bucs play two more matches at home this weekend, hosting Shorter Saturday and West Georgia Sunday afternoon, with both matches set to start at 1 p.m.
