Wolves Sweep Lady Bucs

Brittany Toney notched a match-best 14 digs in the Lady Bucs' 3-0 loss at West Georgia Friday night.
Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga.-Host West Georgia swept the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in three sets Friday night.

The Wolves (14-13, 9-8 GSC) outscored CBU (13-18, 8-9) 13-2 to close the first set in a 25-16 win after the Lady Bucs had led 14-12, and they held on for a 25-23 win in the second set. In the third set, the Lady Bucs had a 13-12 lead before UWG finished strong again, outscoring CBU 13-6 the rest of the way to win 25-19.

Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led the Lady Bucs' offense with 12 kills, while Sami Gruse (Lafayette, Ind./Central Catholic HS) had 35 assists and 10 digs. Brittany Toney (Rockledge, Fla./Rockledge HS) notched 14 digs, while Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) added 11.

Emily Reul led UWG with 12 kills, and Amanda Miller had 29 assists. Melissa Holt had a team-best 13 digs.

The Lady Bucs wrap up the regular season Saturday at noon as they visit Valdosta State. With tonight's loss, the Lady Bucs will face Alabama-Huntsville in the GSC quarterfinals Nov. 22 in Pensacola, Fla.
