Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs swept visiting West Alabama Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena as they celebrated Senior Day.
The Lady Bucs (11-15, 7-6 GSC) scored 12 of the last 16 points in the opening set to pull away to a 25-15 win, and they scored six of the last seven to win a nip-and-tuck second set 25-20. In the third set, the Lady Bucs jumped out to a 7-1 lead and never looked back, winning 25-15.
Alison Welch (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) celebrated her Senior Day with a match-best 15 kills, one off her career-high, and she hit a career-best .481.
Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added 11 kills and a match-high 15 digs, while
Sami Gruse (Lafayette, Ind./Central Catholic HS) dished out a match-high 33 assists.
Carly Wehling and Yanesha Johnson led the Tigers (10-15, 3-11) with five kills each, with Wehling adding a team-high 11 assists. Cynthia Smith led UWA with 10 digs.
The Lady Bucs step out of GSC play for the final time Tuesday night at 6 p.m. as they host Henderson State.
