No. 21 Argos Eliminate Lady Bucs in Four

The Lady Bucs' season ended in a four-set win at No. 21 West Florida Saturday afternoon.
Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla.-No. 21 West Florida advanced to the Gulf South Conference championship match with a four-set win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon in the first semifinal of the GSC Tournament.

The Argos (25-7) cruised to a 25-11 win in the first set, but the Lady Bucs (15-19) rallied from a 19-17 deficit to win the second set 25-22. UWF won the last two sets 25-16 and 25-14 to seal the victory.

Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) and Stephanie Korbakes (Palos Heights, Ill./Alan B. Shepard HS) led the Lady Bucs' offense with nine kills each, while Alison Welch (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) and Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added eight each. Sami Gruse (Lafayette, Ind./Central Catholic HS) dished out a match-best 33 assists. Brittany Toney (Rockledge, Fla./Rockledge HS) had 15 digs, followed by 13 by Gillis and 10 from Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS).

Lindsay Homme and Jenny Bellairs led UWF with 14 kills each. Sierra Hansen had 24 assists, followed by 23 from Abby Timmer, and Tori Martella notched 15 digs.
