JONESBORO, Ark.-Host Arkansas State defeated the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 79-39 Friday night in the Lady Bucs' final exhibition game of the season.
The Red Wolves (2-2) opened the game on a 17-4 run, taking that lead on an Aundrea Gamble jumper with 11:09 remaining in the first half. The Lady Bucs answered with a 14-6 run to pull within 23-18 on an
Emily Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) trey with 6:15 remaining in the half, but the Red Wolves ended the half on a 21-4 run to take a 44-22 lead into the intermission and CBU never came closer in the second half.
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) led the Lady Bucs with 19 points, and
Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored six with six rebounds.
Khadi Brown-Haywood led ASU with 21, and Hanna Qedan tacked on 17 with five assists.
The Lady Bucs shot just 27.5 percent (14-of-51) to ASU's 53.3 percent (32-of-60). The Red Wolves out-rebouned CBU 40-23, including a 12-7 edge in offensive boards, and they forced 20 CBU turnovers while committing 16.
The Lady Bucs open GSC play Thursday night at 5 p.m. as they visit Lee. Their next home game is Thursday, Dec. 11, as they host Delta State at 5 p.m.
