CARROLLTON, Ga.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs scored two goals in a five-minute span midway through the second half as they claimed a 2-0 victory at West Georgia Sunday.
After a scoreless first half where CBU (5-1, 1-1 GSC) out-shot the Wolves (1-6-1, 1-1) 7-0, the Lady Bucs finally broke through in the 63rd minute, on their ninth shot of the game, when
Carmen Manes (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) found
Alex Bickenbach (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) for what proved to be the game-winner. In the 68th minute,
Lauren Magdefrau (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons HS) finished off a cross from
Camilla Rodrigues (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) to double the Lady Bucs' advantage and set the final score.
For the game, CBU out-shot UWG 12-3, including a 6-0 edge in shots on goal.
Robyn Wade (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) collected her third shutout of the season and the 17th of her career. The win was the 28th of her career, moving her into a tie for 10th place in GSC history in goalkeeper wins, and she is now tied for eighth in GSC history in career shutouts.
The Lady Bucs hit the road again next weekend as they visit Spring Hill Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. and West Florida Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Their next home game is set for Friday, Oct. 3, at 5 p.m. as they host Alabama-Huntsville.
