Lady Hawks Top CBU 57-46

MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs shot 29.3 percent in a 57-46 loss to Shorter Thursday night at Canale Arena.

The Lady Hawks (8-10, 4-8 GSC) took a double-digit lead early with a 12-0 run to take a 12-2 edge after CBU (5-13, 3-9) had scored first. The Lady Hawks led by as many as 12 points at 24-12 before the Lady Bucs closed the half on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 26 as Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) sank a three-pointer as time expired at the end of the first half.

The Lady Hawks opened the second half with an 8-0 run and never allowed CBU closer than four points again.

Madison Luckett (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) led the Lady Bucs with 13 points, while Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored 11. Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and added four steals, four assists and two blocks, all team-highs.

Ieshia Alexander led the Lady Hawks with 14 points and four assists, and Madison Rice had 10 with a game-high six steals.

The Lady Bucs shot 20.6 percent (7-of-34) in the second half, finishing at 29.3 percent (17-of-58) for the game to the Lady Hawks' 48.8 percnet (20-of-41). Each team grabbed 32 rebounds, with CBU holding a 12-4 edge in offensive rebounds and forcing 24 Shorter turnovers while committing 19.

The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. as they host Lee for Homecoming.
