Lady Hawks Sweep CBU

MEMPHIS-Visiting Shorter swept a three-set match from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Tuesday night at Canale Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The first set was back-and-forth throughout, with 12 ties and four lead changes. The Lady Bucs (6-12, 3-8 GSC) tied the set as late as 20-20, but Shorter (10-7, 8-3) scored the next two points and her don for a 25-23 win.
• The Lady Hawks jumped to leads of 9-4 and 15-7 on their way to a 25-18 win in the second set.
• After the Lady Bucs closed within 10-9 in the third set, the Lady Hawks scored the next three points and pulled away to a 25-15 win to complete the sweep.

KEY STATS:
• Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) led the Lady Bucs with six kills, hitting .667 with 21 assists and five digs.
• Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) and Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) also added six kills each.
• Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) notched a match-high 19 digs.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs travel to Carrollton, Ga., to play three matches in the 2015 South Region Crossover. CBU will face Florida Tech Friday morning at 11:15 a.m., Rollins Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and Embry-Riddle Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Their next home match will be Saturday, Oct. 24, when they host Mississippi College at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
