HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-Host Alabama Huntsville claimed a four-set win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon at Spragins Hall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• In the opening set, the Lady Bucs (8-18, 4-12 GSC) used a 7-2 run to take a 17-12 lead on a
Lauren Hoffman (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage HS) kill. CBU led by five as late as 22-17 and by four as late as 23-19 before the Chargers (18-11, 9-7) closed the set with a 7-1 run to win 26-24.
• In the second set, neither team led by more than three points until CBU scored four straight to take a 23-18 edge. UAH answered with five straight to tie the set at 23, but the Lady Bucs scored the final two to win the set 25-23.
• CBU took an early 7-3 lead in the third set and led by as many as five at 12-7. The Chargers answered with a 13-4 run to take a 20-16 lead. The Lady Bucs battled back to tie the set at 23 on a double-block by
Emily Justice (Horn Lake, Miss./Lake Cormorant HS) and
Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS), but UAH scored the last two points to win 25-23.
• UAH hit .444 and the Lady Bucs hit -.222 in the fourth set as the Chargers exploded for a 25-6 win to complete the sweep.

Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led CBU with 10 kills.

WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs return home for a pair of matches next weekend. They host Valdosta State Friday night at 7 p.m. before celebrating Senior Day with a 2 p.m. match Saturday afternoon against No. 23 West Florida.
