Lady Bucs Sweep Wolves in Season Finale

CARROLLTON, Ga.-Senior outside hitter Alexis Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas, Carroll HS) capped her career with 21 kills, including for match point, as the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs swept host West Georgia in their final match of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (9-21, 5-15 GSC) never trailed in the opening stanza, using a 9-1 run to take a 16-8 edge they would never relinquish. They never allowed the Wolves (3-27, 0-20) closer than four again as they went on to win 25-20.
• The second set followed a nearly identical script as CBU never trailed, then blew open a commanding lead after a 7-7 tie. This time it was a 9-2 run that extended their lead to 16-9, and they finished on an 8-1 run to claim a 25-13 victory.
• In the third set, the Lady Bucs steadily opened a lead, despite never scoring more than three straight points until a four-point run extended an 18-14 edge to 22-14. CBU's final four points of the season came on Gillis kills, including match point to give them a 25-16 win and the sweep.
