Tigers Sweep Lady Bucs in Saturday Doubleheader

LIVINGSTON, Ala.-Host West Alabama used one big inning in each game to claim a 9-4, 15-0 sweep of the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon. CBU senior outfielder Leigh Ward (Oriental, N.C., Pamlico HS) broke the school record for stolen bases in a season in game two.

• A double and a single led to another UWA run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead.
• CBU closed within a run again in the top of the fifth. Kylie Steagall (San Diego, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) walked, and an Amy Gracia (Fontana, Calif./International Polytechnic HS) single and a Koury walk loaded the bases with one out. Parsels lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Kasey Beekman (Aurora, Colo./Aliso Niguel (Calif.) HS), who ran for Steagall.
• The Lady Bucs took the lead in the top of the sixth. Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) reached on an error but was erased when Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/James Campbell HS) grounded into a force play. Walks to Steagall and Lauren Provence (Millington, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) loaded the bases with two out, and Gracia hit a two-run single to put CBU ahead 4-3.
