Argos Sweep Lady Bucs in Final Road Match

PENSACOLA, Fla.-Host West Florida moved into a tie for first place in the Gulf South Conference standings Saturday afternoon as they swept the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in three sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Argos (22-8, 15-3 GSC) exploded to early leads of 6-0 and 14-2 in the opening set, which they went on to win 25-10.
• The Lady Bucs (15-13, 10-8) stayed within two points at 9-7 in the second set before the Argos used a 9-3 run to open an 18-10 lead en route to a 25-15 win.
• After the teams traded points for a 5-5 tie in the third set, a 9-1 Argos run gave them a commanding 14-6 lead they would stretch to 25-13 to complete the sweep.

KEY STATS:
• Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) led the Lady Bucs with five kills.
• Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) logged a match-best 13 digs.
• Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) had 21 assists with seven digs and three kills.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs return home in sole possession of fourth place in the GSC standings heading into the final two matches of the regular season. They host West Alabama Friday night at 7 p.m. and West Georgia Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

GSC TOURNAMENT PICTURE:
• North Alabama, Shorter and West Florida are tied for first place at 15-3. All have clinched top-3 seeds in the GSC Tournament.
• CBU sits in fourth place at 10-8.
• West Alabama, Lee and Valdosta State are tied for fifth at 9-9, with Alabama Huntsville in eighth at 7-10.
• The No. 3 and 4 seeds host the No. 6 and 5 seeds, respectively, Tuesday night, Nov. 15.
• The top seed hosts the semifinals Saturday, Nov. 19 and the finals Sunday, Nov. 20.
