PENSACOLA, Fla.-Host West Florida used a 9-1 run over a three-minute span late in the fourth quarter as they pulled away to a 68-58 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• After trailing 12-8 late in the first quarter, the Lady Bucs (9-13, 7-11 GSC) used a 10-2 run to take an 18-14 edge on an
Ashley Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) triple with 17:33 remaining in the second quarter.
• The Argos (15-7, 13-5) answered with an 11-0 run to regain the lead for good, taking a 25-18 edge on a Courtney Meyer three-point play with 3:37 remaining in the half.
• After UWF threatened to pull away late in the third quarter, leading by as many as 13 points at 44-31 with 2:55 remaining in the quarter, CBU began to rally.
• First, the Lady Bucs closed the third quarter on an 11-2 run, capped by a
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) triple as time expired in the quarter to bring CBU within 46-42.
• After the Argos extended their lead back to 53-45 on a Kelly Preston three-point play with 8:21 remaining, CBU used an 8-2 burst to close within 55-53 on a
Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) three-pointer with 5:59 remaining.
• UWF answered with the decisive 9-1 run, extending their lead to 64-54 on a Meyer bucket with 2:47 remaining, and the Lady Bucs were unable to come closer than eight points again in the final minutes.
KEY STATS:• Schaefer led the Lady Bucs with 17 points to go with five rebounds and two steals.

Madison Luckett (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) scored 13 with six rebounds.

Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian School) tacked on 11 points with five rebounds.
• The Lady Bucs shot 35.8 percent (19-of-53) for the game, including 45.0 percent (9-of-20) from three-point range.
• The Argos shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) overall and 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from beyond the arc.
• UWF out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 42-27, including a 16-8 edge in offensive boards. CBU forced 15 Argo turnovers while committing 12.
WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs visit Valdosta State Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Their final home game is Thursday night at 5 p.m. as they host Alabama Huntsville.
