CLEVELAND, Miss.-Host Delta State out-scored the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 16-2 in the second half Tuesday night to take control on their way to a 58-42 win in the quarterfinals in the VisitSpaceCoast.com Gulf South Conference Championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Bucs (11-16) led throughout the first quarter, starting the game on a 9-4 run capped by a
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) jumper with 2:13 remaining in the quarter.
• Delta State (20-6) out-scored the Lady Bucs 22-4 over the final 12 minutes of the first half, then they opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run capped by a Chelsey Rhodes triple that gave them a 35-15 lead. CBU never came closer than 13 points in the second half.
KEY STATS:• Reeves scored 22 points with seven rebounds and three assists to lead the Lady Bucs.

Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored eight points.

Ashley Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) grabbed five rebounds in her final college game.
• The Lady Bucs shot just 34.1 percent (14-of-41) from the floor, including 7.1 percent (1-of-14) from three-point range.
• DSU shot 44.8 percent (26-of-58) overall, including 33.3 percent (3-of-9) from beyond the arc.
• The Lady Statesmen out-rebounded CBU 34-24, including a 13-6 edge in offensive boards, and they converted 16 CBU turnovers into 22 points while committing just seven.
