LIVINGSTON, Ala.-Host West Alabama scored 21 runs as they swept a doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Sunday.
GAME 1:WHAT HAPPENED:Playing as the visiting team since the series was originally scheduled for Bland Field, the Tigers (9-15, 2-12 GSC) scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to rally for a 7-6 win in the opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• The Lady Bucs (6-18, 2-12) struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) walked, moved to second on an
Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) sacrifice and scored on a two-out single by
Gabrielle Sereika (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute).Â
• The combination of Oyhenart, Johnson and Sereika created two more runs in the third. Oyhenart and Johnson singled to start the inning. After a
Kylie Steagall (San Diego, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) groundout moved them to second and third, Sereika hit a two-run single to give CBU a 3-0 edge.
• The Lady Bucs added another run to their lead in the bottom of the fifth. Johnson and Steagall singled with one out to start the threat. After stealing third, Johnson scored when
Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) grounded out.
• The Tigers exploded for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning on two doubles, two singles, two walks and a homer.
• CBU scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. Oyhenart singled and stole second, and Johnson followed with a walk. Steagall hit a two-run double to bring them within a run. After she moved to third on a Sereika single, Steagall was tagged out at the plate when
Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) reached on a fielders choice. A passed ball put runners on second and third with two out, but the Lady Bucs were unable to bring the tying run home.
KEY STATS:• Sereika was 3-for-3 with three RBI.
• Johnson was 2-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base, a sacrifice and three runs.
• Oyhenart went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and three runs.

GAME 2:WHAT HAPPENED:The Tigers scored in five of the game's seven innings as they claimed a 14-8 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• UWA plated three runs in the top of the first on a tripe, a walk, a single and a double.
• CBU answered with three in the bottom of the inning. Johnson singled and stole second, and Steagall used three two-strike foul balls to work a walk. Sereika blasted the next pitch over the center-field wall to tie the game at three.
• UWA scored twice in the second on two singles and a triple.
• The Tigers extended their lead to 9-3 with a four-run third inning on a homer, a walk and three singles.
• The Lady Bucs shaved a run off the deficit in the bottom of the third. Steagall worked a two-out walk and scored on a Sereika double.
• UWA used a single and a double to score a run in the fourth to restore their six-run lead.
• CBU again answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Amy Koury (Pearland, Texas/Pearland HS) reached on a two-base error and scored on a two-out
Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) double.
• The Tigers scored four more in the top of the seventh on a homer, a walk, two singles and a double.
• The Lady Bucs scored three in the bottom of the inning to set the final margin. Oyhenart singled and moved around to third on a pair of wild pitches. Johnson was hit by a pitch. Oyhenart scored on a Steagall groundout, and Sereika and pinch-hitter
Jacqueline Conlan (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) followed with walks to load the bases. Welch worked a bases-loaded walk, and
Blake Andres (Arlington, Tenn./Briarcrest HS) followed with a two-out RBI single to set the final margin.
