No. 4 Lions Power Past Lady Bucs in Finale

MEMPHIS-No. 4 North Alabama used an eight-run first inning to take control on their way to a 15-3 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in the final regular-season game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After a pair of flyouts to start the top of the first inning, 10 straight Lions (46-5, 29-3 GSC) reached base safely, including three home runs, as they scored eight in the inning.
• The Lady Bucs (9-43, 3-30) scored twice in the bottom of the frame. Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) was hit by the first pitch of the inning. After stealing second, she scored on a Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) double to left-center. Oyhenart moved to third on an Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) flyout, and she scored on a Kylie Steagall (San Diego, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) squeeze bunt.
• UNA added a run to its lead in the top of the third on a leadoff homer by Mackenzie Roberts.
• The Lady Bucs answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Maddi Welch (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) singled and stole second, moving to third on an Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) single to left. She came around to score on a single by Oyhenart.
• The Lions put the game out of reach with six runs in the fifth inning on two singles, a double and three home runs.
