CLEVELAND, Miss.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit to take a fourth-quarts lead, but host Delta State claimed a 56-53 win Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Delta State (12-13, 9-11 GSC) took control early using a 20-5 run to take a 26-10 lead n a pair of Kaelin Kneeland free throws with 4:38 remaining.
• The Lady Bucs (12-12, 9-11) stormed back with a 17-0 run spanning the last three minutes of the third quarter and the first two minutes of the fourth.
Mikaela Blissett (Oran, Mo./Scott County Central HS) capped the run with a three-point play that gave CBU a 43-39 lead with 8:03 remaining.
• DSU used a 12-3 run to rebuild a 53-48 lead on an Alondrea Rush basket with 54 seconds remaining.

Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) made a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 53-51 with 39 seconds remaining. After Rush scored a layup with 12 seconds remaining, Banks drew a foul and sank two free throws with one second to play.
• DSU made one of two free throws with one second remaining. After CBU advanced the ball with a timeout, their three-pointer at the buzzer missed, giving DSU the victory.
KEY STATS:

Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) scored 19 points before fouling out in 27 minutes.
• Banks scored 18 with four rebounds and three assists.
• The Lady Bucs shot 47.4 percent (18-of-38) from the floor, including 30.8 percent (4-of-13) from three-point range. DSU finished 43.1 percent (22-of-51) overall, including 20 percent (2-of-10) from beyond the arc.
• CBU out-rebounded Delta State 30-21, including a 10-9 edge in offensive boards. CBU committed 18 turnovers to the Lady Statesmen's nine.
GSC TOURNAMENT PICTURE:
West Florida clinched at least a share of first place as they are 16-4, followed by Lee and Valdosta State, both 14-6. North Alabama and West Georgia are tied for fourth at 12-8, with Union in sixth at 10-10. CBU, Mississippi College and Delta State are in a three-way tie for the last two berths in the tournament at 9-11.
