PENSACOLA, Fla.-Host West Florida won a pair of one-run games Sunday afternoon as they swept a Gulf South Conference doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
After seven scoreless innings, West Florida (24-8, 10-7 GSC) leadoff hitter Jacey Castro led off the bottom of the eighth with a walkoff homer for the only run in a 1-0 UWF win.
KEY STATS:

Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) was 1-for-3 with a double.

Julia Schassburger (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) went 1-for-3.

Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) was 1-for-3.
GAME 2:
WHAT HAPPENED:
• UWF scored the winning run int he fifth inning to take a 2-1 win in the nightcap.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Argos opened the scoring in the second inning with a run on two hits and two errors.
• CBU (6-26, 0-17) evened the score with a run in the top of the third.
Lauren Provence (Millington, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) led off with a single, and pinch-runner
Blake Andres (Arlington, Tenn./Briarcrest HS) moved to third when
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) reached on an error on a sacrifice bunt. After Oyhenart stole second, Andres was tagged out in a rundown, allowing Oyhenart to move to third. A
Kylie Steagall (San Diego, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) squeeze bunt brought Oyhenart home to tie the game.
• West Florida scored the winning run in the fifth, scoring on a hit batter, a stolen base, a groundout and a sacrifice fly.
