HEAD COACH SARAH CONDRA'S THOUGHTS:
"We never just took it to where we felt good, but those are the types of games you need to find a way to win. That's the positive take-away from this game is we found a way to win. Â We made some plays late and had some players make some free-throws. You can learn from those experiences and we'll take it."
On the balanced scoring:
"I think we got a lot of stuff in the paint. We got some cuts because they were overplaying us some. So we drove and hit cutters and things like that. Anytime you can get five players in double digits you're happy and probably going to be successful. I thought Kenzie had a really good game today. She shot the ball well, was aggressive, and I thought she played pretty decently defensively. Brynne was a huge spark early. We didn't get her enough shots in the second half but had a great first half. Courtney made some plays late and that three she hit was big for us late. I'm very proud overall of the efforts from our girls."
On Shelmesha Barbee:
"I keep telling her, she's very athletic for your size. I wish she would trust herself a little bit more. Especially defensively, if it's a face-up type of player because she can move. She's given us a huge spark in several games. Again, in that third quarter she was big for us. I was worried when she got that steal like oh please don't pick up that foul, but she didn't and that ended up being a huge play. We were able to stretch our lead to eight or nine when she was in and that was big."
On the flow of the game:
"They hit a big three right when we were up and cut it back down. We never could just extend it enough to just feel like we were in total control."
FRESHMAN GUARD BRYNNE LYTLE'S THOUGHTS:
What are your takeaways from the first half of the season so far?
"We have great leadership in our seniors and upperclassmen, so it's been really easy to transition into. They're always there to help encourage me, especially with the offense we run. It's really complicated, so they've always been there to take the extra time in practice to show me and I'm really lucky to have older girls like that to take care of me."
On Where the Lady Bucs stand:
"Every win we can get counts. We knew this was one we needed so we came out and did everything we had to do to get the win."
On Shelmesha Barbee:
"She had a couple really big buckets and a big defensive rebound. She was injured for a while but came back strong and has really helped us out putting in strong moves down low."
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs play two more home games next week, beginning Thursday night at 5 p.m. when they host No. 22/15 North Alabama.
