Lady Bucs Rally Past Lane

JACKSON, Tennessee-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs out-scored host Lane 6-0 in the last minute as they rallied for a 68-63 win Tuesday night after trailing by as many as 15 points earlier in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Dragons (1-3) used a 19-2 first-quarter run to build a 25-10 lead on a Breaunna Burks triple with 1:42 remaining in the quarter.
• CBU (2-0) steadily whittled the deficit down. First, they opened the second quarter with a 10-1 run to close within 27-22 on a Kelsey Adkins (Lawrenceburg, Tenn./Lawrence County HS) triple with 4:20 remaining in the quarter.
• Later, an 8-1 burst bridging the halftime break cut the deficit to 34-32 on a Kenzie Jones (Park Hills, Mo./Central HS) three with 8:37 remaining in the third quarter.
• After CBU drew even, a 12-3 Lane run restored a 50-41 lead on a Burks layup with 2:10 remaining in the third.
• The Lady Bucs stormed into the lead with a 12-1 run, taking a 53-51 advantage, their first of the night, on an Adkins triple with 7:23 remaining in the game.
• Lane answered with a 9-2 burst of their own, taking a 60-55 lead on an Antrice McCoy layup with 4:48 remaining.
• CBU closed the game on a 13-3 run, regaining the lead for good on an Adkins layup with 50 seconds and salting away the victory as Jones and Brynne Lytle (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy) sank two free throws each in the final 30 seconds.

KEY STATS:
• Adkins scored a team-high 19 points with five rebounds in 32 minutes, shooting 6-of-12 including 3-of-6 from three-point range.
• Jones scored 17 with five rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes.
• Lytle added 13 with a game-high nine rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes.
Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian School) also grabbed nine rebounds to go with seven points and two steals.
• The Lady Bucs shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) overall, including 35.7 percent (10-of-28) from three-point range. Lane finished 42.4 percent (25-of-59) overall including 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from beyond the arc.
• CBU out-rebounded the Lady Dragons 38-25, including a 14-8 edge in offensive boards. They committed 19 turnovers to Lane's 15.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs open GSC play next week as they visit West Florida Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. Their next home game is Tuesday, Dec. 4, when they host Lane at 5 p.m.
