HUNTSVILLE, Alabama-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split two games in the UAH Charger Chillout Friday, beating Miles 9-5 before dropping a 4-1 decision to Truman State.
GAME 1: CBU 9, Miles 5
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Lady Bucs (3-5) scored four in the second, two in the third and three in the seventh to rally for a 9-5 win after trailing early against Miles.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Miles (0-8) struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first on an error, a hit batter and three singles.
• CBU answered with four in the top of the second.
Ashlyn Hinton (Anniston, Ala./White Plains HS) and
Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) walked, and
Jacqueline Conlan (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) singled to load the bases with no outs.
Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) followed with a three-run triple to center, and she scored on a
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) single up the middle to give CBU a 4-3 lead.
• The Lady Bucs added two runs to their lead an inning later. Parsels singled and moved to second on a Conlan walk. A wild pitched moved them to second and third for Ferreira, who scored Parsels with a sacrifice fly. Conlan later scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 6-3.
• The Golden Bears scored a run in the fifth on a triple and a single.
• Miles pulled within a run in the sixth as they scored a run on a double, an error and two walks.
• CBU added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Oyhenart led off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball, scoring when
Maddi Welch (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) reached on a three-base throwing error.
Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) plated Welch with a sacrifice fly.
Savannah Rosevear-Goetsch (Arrington, Tenn./Fred J. Page HS) singled, and pinch-runner
Marquisha Sanders (Millington, Tenn./Millington Central HS) stole second and scored on a Parsels single to set the final margin.
KEY STATS:
• Oyhenart went 3-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base, a run and one RBI.
• Parsels was 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs and one RBI.
• Conlan went 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs.
• Ferreira was 1-for-4 with a triple, a run and four RBI.

Julia Schassburger (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) earned the win as she allowed five runs, three earned, as she scattered seven hits and a walk over five innings.

Sierra Anderson (Olive Branch, Miss./Lewisburg HS) picked up the save with two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts against two walks and no hits.
GAME 2: Truman State 4, CBU 1
WHAT HAPPENED:
Truman State scored two runs in the first and two more in the fifth, and the Lady Bucs loaded the bases in the seventh before losing 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bulldogs (2-1) scored two runs in the bottom of the first on two singles and a triple.
• Truman added two runs in the fifth on a single, a double and two errors.
• CBU got on the board with a two-out rally in the top of the seventh. Conlan and Ferreira hit back-to-back one-out singles, and Oyhenart worked a two-out walk to load the bases. Welch walked on four pitches to score Conlan, but a groundout ended the game with the bases loaded.
KEY STATS:
• Ferreira went 2-for-2 with a walk.
• Conlan was 1-for-3 with a run.
• Johnson went 1-for-4.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs open GSC play next weekend with three games in the GSC Opening Weekend Festival at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala. They face Valdosta State and Lee Saturday and Shorter Sunday. Their home opener is set for Wednesday, Feb. 21, as they host LeMoyne-Owen for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
