PENSACOLA, Florida-The Christian Brothers University men's tennis team fell to two nationally ranked opponents during their final road trip of the season. The Bucs fell 5-1 to No.9 Valdosta State and 9-0 to No. 6 West Florida.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Against Valdosta State,
Lorenzo Maccarini (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio Saber) and
Javier Saez (Concepcion, Chile/Almondole HS) secured the No. 1 slot point in doubles play by defeating the #9 nationally ranked duo of Jordi Mas and Florian Simbozel. Unfortunately, the Bucs could not find a way to capitalize on the win and dropped the remaining doubles matches. In singles play, the Bucs were unable to secure an additional point despite close matches from Saez and Maccarini, leading to the Buc's defeat at a final score of 5-1. The next match against West Florida would see the teams play out all nine matches, but one again the Bucs came up short as the Argos swept all nine matches on the day.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs will now travel to Mobile, Alabama to take on Spring Hill in their final match of the season.
