PITTSBURG, Kansas-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs lost a pair of matches in the Pittsburg State University Gorilla Classic Friday, losing to Chadron State in four sets and Northwestern Oklahoma State in three sets.
Chadron State 3, CBU 1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-21)
WHAT HAPPENED:
Chadron State (1-4) hit .261 as they claimed a four-set win over the Lady Bucs (2-4) in the first match of the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After CBU jumped to an early 4-2 lead, the Eagles outscored them 15-6 over the middle of the set to take a 17-10 edge en route to a 25-20 win.
• In the second set it was CSC who led for the early going, taking leads of 3-0, 5-2 and eventually 15-11. After the Lady Bucs drew within a point at 16-15, CSC appeared to pull away again with a four-point run to go ahead 20-15, but the Lady Bucs outscored them 10-2 to take a 25-22 win and even the match.
• CBU opened with four straight points in the third set, and they led by as many as five at 10-5 and 11-6 before the Eagles used a five-point run to tie the set at 11 and a later 7-1 run to take a 23-17 lead, eventually winning 25-20.
• CSC took early leads of 3-0 and 8-4 in the fourth set before the Lady Bucs used an 8-1 run to claim a 13-10 edge on a double-block by #Mollie Wadsworth# and #Miaya Smith#. The Lady Bucs would lead as late as 21-20 on a Wadsworth kill before CSC closed the match with five straight points to win 25-21.
KEY STATS:
• Smith led the way offensively with 17 kills, hitting .367.
• #Emma Lenoir# added 12 kills and 11 digs.
• Wadsworth tacked on 11 kills with 11 digs.
• #Gennah Schoen# hit .467 with eight kills.

Northwestern Oklahoma State 3, CBU 0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20)
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Rangers (7-0) had 13 aces as they remained unbeaten with a three-set win over CBU.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• In the opening set, NWOSU used a 7-1 burst to take an 8-4 lead they would not relinquish, leading by as many as 12 points in a 25-19 win.
• The Rangers again took control early in the second set, using a five-point burst to build an 11-5 lead. CBU rallied, using a 6-1 run of their own to take an 18-16 lead on a Miaya Smith ace, but the Rangers regained the lead with a three-point run and held on for a 25-23 win.
• NWOSU took a quick 5-1 lead in the third set, and they led by as many as five points, but the Lady Bucs used a five-point run to tie the set at 15 on a Lenoir kill. A four-point run capped by a Wadsworth kill gave them a 20-18 lead, but the Rangers closed the set, and the match, with seven straight points to clinch the sweep.
KEY STATS:
• Lenoir had a match-best 12 kills with a team-high six digs.
• Miaya Smith hit .222 with eight kills, three aces, three digs and three blocks.
• Wadsworth hit .333 with seven kills and two blocks.
• Henderson had 19 assists with three digs.
