PENSACOLA, Florida – The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team fell in heartbreaking fashion at No. 4 West Florida 2-1 in overtime Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UWF took advantage of a deflected ball at the top of the box and buried it past Riley Chafin (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) for the 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.
- Lady Bucs' (2-2-1) forward Sinead Tierney (Winsford, England/St. Nicholas Catholic HS) equalized in the 29th minute on a cross from Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS) to notch things even at 1-1.
- Things remained deadlocked in the second-half as neither team was able to convert the game-winner and the two sides went into overtime.
- The Argonauts (6-0-0) buried the game-winner in the 98th minute for the win.
KEY STATS:
- Tierney's 29th minute goal was the fifth of her season through five games. Tierney currently sits tied for second in the Gulf South Conference in goals scored.
- Tadlock's feed to Tierney was her second of the season (one each in the last two games). Tadlock leads all Lady Bucs in assists and is T-4th in the GSC.
- Riley Chafin (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) allowed a goal on the Argonauts first shot on the night, however, Chafin battled back saving 9 -of-11 shots on the night and holding UWF to their second-fewest goal total in the 2018 season.
