BIRMINGHAM - The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs closed out their play at the GSC/SSC Volleyball Crossover Tournament on Saturday evening. The Lady Bucs dropped their final two matches against Florida Southern and Florida Tech 0-3.
CBU 0, Florida Southern 3 (19-25, 18-25, 24-26)
WHAT HAPPENED: Florida Southern produced a few big scoring runs throughout the match, which was led by the Mocs hitting more efficiently in the match. The Mocs hit .302 in the game, while CBU finished with a .200 hitting percentage. Florida Southern won the match 3-0.
KEY STATS:
- Mollie Wadsworth led the offensive attack for the Lady Bucs with nine kills.
- The Mocs passed the ball more successfully as they produced 40 assists, while CBU recorded 28. Maddie Flickinger tallied 26 of the Lady Bucs' 28 assists.
- Both teams recorded five blocks in the match.
CBU 0, Florida Tech 3 (19-25, 11-25, 19-25)
WHAT HAPPENED: Florida Tech's more efficient hitting percentage led to a 3-0 win over the Lady Bucs. Florida Tech finished the match with a .263 hitting percentage, while CBU recorded a .034 percentage.
KEY STATS:
- Emma Lenoir and Joze Smith both ended the match with 13 digs.
- Lenoir led the Lady Bucs with eight kills. Lenoir is the NCAA Division II active career leader in kills. She currently has 1,593 in her career… and counting.
- Flickinger added 16 more assists to her total for the day (42).
