Lady Bucs See Comeback Effort Fall Short at Union

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Christian Brothers University volleyball team fought back to force a fifth set, but Union held on for a 3-2 victory, on Tuesday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. With the win, Union swept the season series 2-0. 

SCORE:
Union 3, CBU 2 (25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 25-13, 15-11)

RECORDS:
CBU (6-22, 3-9 GSC)

WHAT HAPPENED:
Union finished the match with a 16-4 advantage in blocks, and committed six less errors (26-20).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Trailing 14-12 in the first set, Union scored 13 of the next 20 points to earn the win.
• Union had control of the second set but the Lady Bucs stormed back, going on an 11-3 run to win the set. 
• The Lady Bulldogs went on a 14-2 spurt to capture the third set 25-18. 
• CBU dominated the fourth set 25-13, finishing with a .455 hitting percentage.
• Union took advantage of a -0.063 hitting percentage and four errors to win the fifth set 15-11.

KEY STATS:
• Emma Lenoir led the Lady Bucs posting a double-double with 28 kills and 14 digs. Her 28 kills are the most since a 30 kill effort last season against Florida Tech (10.19).
Mollie Wadsworth added 14 kills, which ties her second-highest total of the season. 
Maddie Flickinger finished with a team-high 24 assists. 
Maddie Stevens had 13 digs and a team-best three service aces. 
• The 61 kills for CBU mark its third highest total of the season. 

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return home on Friday, Nov. 8 when they will face Montevallo, at 6 p.m. CBU will wrap up the weekend when it will honor its three seniors on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Alabama Huntsville.
