MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Christian Brothers University Volleyball team forced a fourth set, but came up short in a 3-1 loss to Valdosta State, on Friday at Canale Arena.
Valdosta State 3, CBU 1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 25-16)
WHAT HAPPENED: Jojo Smith and Kylie Stroehlein finished with 22 of the 49 kills to help lead the Lady Blazers.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first set Valdosta State took advantage of 11 CBU errors en route to a 25-17 win.
- CBU jumped out to an early 5-2 lead, and scored four of the last six points to take the set. The Lady Bucs took advantage of eight VSU errors in the set.
- Following an evenly played 27 points, VSU scored 11 of the next 15 to take the set. The visitors hit .433 in the frame.
- In the fourth set, VSU used its momentum to take an early 12-5 lead and never looked back in a 25-16 win.
KEY STATS:
- Tia Rizvi led the Lady Bucs with a career-high 14 kills.
- KaLea Davis finished with a 36 assists, three service aces, and a career-high 15 digs.
- Kimmy Hammond had 12 digs and two assists.
