Lady Bucs Can't Overcome Cold Shooting in Loss at Arkansas Tech

RUSSELVILLE, Ark. - The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team shot just 39 percent in an 84-63 setback to non-conference Arkansas Tech, on Saturday, at Tucker Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both teams came out with a strong shooting performance, but the Lady Bucs trailed 20-19 after the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the Golden Suns forced 10 CBU turnovers, and held the Lady Bucs to 2-of-12 shooting to take a 37-25 lead into halftime.
  • In the third quarter the Lady Bucs cut the deficit to six, but the Golden Suns responded with a 16-6 run to lead 63-41 after three.
  • CBU won the final quarter 22-21 to finish the scoring. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Lady Bucs finished the game just 39 percent from the field (24-for-62), and 11-of-17 (65 percent) from the free-throw line.
  • Ashlei Lopez, of Arkansas Tech, finished 8-of-15 with 22 points and 2 steals.
  • CBU had a 25-16 advantage in bench points.
  • Emily Jones finished with a team-high 15 points and added six rebounds and two steals. 
  • Jeremia Montgomery finished the game with 10 points (career-high) and three rebounds.
  • Yaya Coleman finished with eight points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Nov. 27 when they travel to Magnolia, Ark., to face Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
