Early Goal Leads Union Past Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS - Union scored just 16 minutes after the opening whistle, and held on for a 1-0 win over the Christian Brothers University women's soccer team, on Thursday evening, at Signaigo Field. 

The Lady Bucs honored their nine seniors prior to the match.

Despite the loss, the Lady Bucs have qualified as the No. 8 seed in the upcoming Gulf South Conference Tournament, where they are scheduled to face No. 1 seed Lee. The undefeated Lady Flames are also ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II. The Lady Bucs dropped a 1-0 decision to Lee on Sept. 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
16' | Victoria Seymour opened the scoring, finishing a cross from Holly Trisdale, to give the Lady Bulldogs the early lead.
HALF | The Lady Bucs trailed 1-0 after the first 45 minutes. CBU outshot the visitors 7-5.
81' | Bailey Tadlock had an opportunity to tie the score, but Union goalkeeper, Bryson Lee, made a difficult save to keep the Lady Bucs off the board.
FINAL | CBU recorded 12 shots in the second half, but were unable to score on the Union keeper.

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES
  • CBU had a 19-5 advantage in shots.
  • Bailey Tadlock finished as the GSC leader in goals (12). 
  • Both goalkeepers combined for eight saves.
