Lady Bucs Fall Short at Valdosta State

VSU 3, CBU 0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-19)

WHAT HAPPENED: The Lady Bucs held late leads in the second and third sets, but Valdosta State came away with the win. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The hosts jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, but the Lady Bucs fought back to tie the score at 12. The Lady Blazers scored 13 of the next 19 points to win the set. 
  • CBU led by as many as six points (15-9) early in the set. The Lady Blazers then stormed back to tie the set at 19. 
  • With the Lady Bucs leading 22-19, VSU took advantage of a service error and used it to spark a 6-1 run to win the set. 
  • Valdosta State carried the momentum into the third set, and raced out to a 14-7 lead. 
  • Keeping with the theme of the match, the Lady Bucs battled back to earn a 15-14 advantage.
  •  VSU took advantage of five CBU errors, and scored 11 of the next 15 points to win the match. 
KEY STATS:
  • Valdosta State finished the contest with an 8-0 advantage in blocks. 
  • The Lady Blazers hit .317, while holding CBU to .103. 
  • CBU finished with a 6-3 edge in service aces. 
  • Tia Rizvi led the Lady Bucs with 11 kills and nine digs. 
  • Aldon Pilz finished with 27 assists.
UP NEXT: 
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Nov. 6th when they travel to Carrollton, Ga. to face West Georgia. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 PM.
