No. 18 Union Pulls Away to Defeat Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS -  The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team knocked down 15 three point shots, but it wasn't enough as No. 18 Union pulled away for an 85-66 win, on Saturday at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Union hit eight of its first 17 shots, while holding CBU to just 4-of-11, to take a 20-12 lead, after the opening 10 minutes. 
  • CBU bounced back, outscoring the hosts 21-17 to cut the halftime deficit to 37-33. 
  • In the third quarter, after an Emily Jones three pointer cut the lead to 43-42, Union used a 19-3 run to take a 62-45 lead into the final quarter. 
  • Union kept its lead to at least 14 points during the entirety of the fourth quarter to earn the win. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The 15 three pointers for CBU are its most since it hit 18 against Montevallo (2.15.20). 
  • CBU scored all 21 of its second quarter points from beyond the three point line. 
  • The Lady Bucs had a streak of 33 straight points (1:06 1st quarter - 7:01 3rd quarter). come from three point range. 
  • Emily Jones finished with a team-high 27 points, with five rebounds and three assists. 
  • Yaya Coleman added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. 
  • Jaelencia Williams led Union with 33 points and 12 boards. 
  • The Lady Bucs were 15-of-34 from three point range. 
  • Union doubled up CBU from the free throw stripe, as it went 17-of-24. The Lady Bucs were 9-of-12.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 15 when they travel to face non-conference foe Lindenwood (Mo.). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
