OXFORD, Miss. – The Christian Brothers University softball team rallied from three runs down, but saw its comeback effort fall short, as Delta State held on for a 6-4 win, on Saturday, at mTrade Park.
The contest was originally scheduled to be played in Memphis, but was moved due to weather.
FINAL: Delta State 6 (17-11, 10-6 GSC) CBU 2 (2-18, 2-14 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
- CBU rallied from down 3-0 to take a 4-3 lead, in the fourth, but DSU scored three runs in the fifth to win the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Delta State finished the game with a 8-3 advantage in hits.

Ashley Dyer finished 1-for-4 with a two-RBI triple.

Savannah Crockett drove in the other CBU run with a sacrifice fly.

KEY PLAYS:
- After DSU scored a run in each of the first three innings, the Lady Bucs tied the game on a two-RBI triple by Dyer, who took advantage of a throwing miscue to score on the play.
- CBU took a 4-3 lead in the fourth on the sac fly by Crockett.
- The Lady Statesmen took the lead for good in the fifth when they plated three runs on three hits.
- DSU pitcher Brookelyn Sweeney retired the next nine hitters to end the game.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, March 28 to finish off the series with Delta State. The doubleheader, which is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start will be played at mTrade Park in Oxford, Miss.
