Lady Bucs Use Strong Second Half to Defeat Shorter

ROME, Ga. - The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team outscored Shorter 46-38, in the second half, in an 87-78 victory, on Saturday, at Winthrop-King Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Shorter forced six CBU turnovers, and held the Lady Bucs to 5-of-14 shooting to take a 26-13 lead after the first quarter. 
  • The Lady Bucs stormed back in the second quarter, using a 14-3 run to cut the deficit to 29-27.
  • The Lady Bucs took a 41-40 lead into halftime, spured by a 61 percent shooting effort in the second quarter. 
  • In the third, neither team led by more than five points, as the Lady Bucs took a 60-58 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • CBU led by as many as 11 points in the final quarter to earn the road win.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Lady Bucs finished the game 49 percent from the field (32-of-65), and 16-of-21 (76 percent) from the free-throw line.
  • CBU had a 27-0 advantage in bench points.
  • Yaya Coleman finished with a team-high 25 points and five rebounds and two steals.
  • Emily Jones added 19 points and three rebounds.
  • Jeremia Montgomery finished the game with 15 points, including 9-of-12 from the free-throw line.
  • Karlee Bates rounded out the double figure scorers with 10 points and a team-high seven assists.
