Lady Bucs Earn Hard Fought Draw With No. 9 Lee

MEMPHIS - Cheyenne Smith scored with just over five minutes remaining to help give the Christian Brothers University women's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw with Lee, on Sunday afternoon, at Signaigo Field. 

The goal by Smith was her fifth in the last two games and her league-leading ninth of the season.

CBU 1 (4-1-1, 1-0-1 GSC)
Lee 1 (3-0-3, 1-0-1 GSC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
HALF | The Lady Bucs controlled play for most of the first half, and finished with a 4-2 edge in shots. 
54 ' | Lee scored the opener when a ball that was headed in the box found Grace Berry, who turned and fired a shot into the left side of the goal.
85' | A cross from Lilly Harrison found Julia Valentin, in the box, who slipped a pass to Smith. The Memphis native then turned and fired a shot into the bottom right corner. 
FINAL | Neither team had a shot in the final five minutes of the contest. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES
  • Lee outshot the Lady Bucs 5-3, in the second half. Both teams finished the match with seven shots. The Lady Flames had a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. 
  • Chloe Hillyer kept CBU in the match with three saves.  
  • Smith led the Lady Bucs with three shots. 
  • The result for CBU is its first against Lee since a 3-2 (2 OT) victory in 2018.
