Shorter Hits Way Past Lady Bucs

WHAT HAPPENED:
Shorter finished the match with 38 kills and a .198 hitting percentage. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Shorter raced out to an 8-2 lead and didn't look back, as it took the opening set. 
  • The Hawks hit .409 in the first set. 
  • CBU led 5-2 in the early stages of the second set, but Shorter used a 9-4 run to take an 11-9 lead. 
  • An ace from Kimmy Hammond gave CBU a 19-17 lead, but the Hawks scored eight of the next nine points to take a 2-0 lead. 
  • In the third set, the Lady Bucs had a 2-0 lead but Shorter took advantage of six quick kills to take a 10-5 lead. 
  • CBU was unable to get to within four points the rest of the way. 
  • The Hawks took advantage of 13 kills in the third set win. 
KEY STATS:
  • Maysen Bruschke led CBU with nine kills. The Las Vegas native has led the Lady Bucs in kills the last three matches. 
  • Jordan Allen finished with a season-high three blocks. 
  • Tia Rizvi finished with a team-high 19 assists and 13 digs.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 when they host Lee. First serve is scheduled for 2 PM.
