Lady Bucs Use Big Second Half to Defeat Ouachita Baptist

MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team used a pair of second half goals in a 4-2 victory, over Ouachita Baptist, on Saturday afternoon at Signaigo Field. Julia Valentin and Cheyenne Smith scored two goals each to help lead the Lady Bucs. 

FINAL SCORE:
CBU 4 (3-1)
OBU  2 (2-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
9' | Julia Valentin got the Lady Bucs on the board early atfter her header, from close range, beat the OBU goalkeeper. Sammy Goodrich had a free kick, which was headed by Marita Cancio, that lead to the goal. 
15' | Less than six minutes later, Valentin doubled the lead after taking a long pass, weaving through OBU defenders and beating the goalkeeper. 
16' | OBU scored their first goal of the contest 36 seconds later to cut the lead to 2-1. 
23' | The Tigers scored the equalizer when a deflected shot, from near the top of the box, found its way into the back of the net.
HALF | CBU outshot the visitors 7-3 in the first half. 
60' | Cheyenne Smith scored what proved to be the game-winner, when her shot from 25 yards out skipped past the OBU goalkeeper. 
81' | Smith helped sealed the win for CBU when she took a long past from Cancio and muscled her way past the Tiger defense and firing the shot home.

  • CBU outshot the visitors 15-12. The Lady Bucs finished with a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal 
  • Chloe Hillyer had three saves for CBU.  
  • Smith led the Lady Bucs with seven shots, while Valentin finished with five. 
  • CBU has now won nine straight contests over Harding.  
  • The win for the Lady Bucs avenged a 1-0 loss to the Tigers last year.
