MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Lady Bucs took the first set but drop the next three to Valdosta State on Friday evening, in Canale Arena.
CBU was led by sophomores

Maddi Rowley who combined for 22 of the Bucs' 43 Kills.

WHAT HAPPENED:
The Lady Bucs started the match firing on all cylinders, racking in 13 kills with only one error. CBU could not maintain their success, as the Blazers stormed back to take the 3-1 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first set, the Lady Bucs were steadied by freshman Addie Waggoner and Rowley who had a combined for 9 kills and a .474 hitting percentage.
- CBU fell behind 22-19 to VSU but used a 6-1 run to take the 25-23 victory. The run was capped off by a block from Alma Solis and Rowley.
- The Blazers started strong in the second set, capturing a 9-4 lead. Jackson went on a 3-0 run on her own to pull the Lady Bucs within two at 9-7; however, VSU ended the set on a 16-9 run to tie the match at a set a piece.
- The Lady Bucs and Blazers battled back in forth in the third set, before VSU used two 3-0 spurts to take the 25-17 set win.
- With the fourth set tied at 8-8, the Blazers used a 9-1 run to take a commanding 17-9 lead against CBU. The Bucs battled back with a 6-1 run of their own led by Jordan Allen and Jackson. The run was not enough, as Valdosta State took the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-1.
KEY STATS | NOTABLES:
- Jackson is dominating in Canale Arena this season, tallying 36 kills in three matches while hitting at a .351 Clip.
- Sarah Allyn Thornell finished the night with a double-double of 23 assists and 12 digs. Thornell also added eight kills and tied her season-high of 5 blocks.
- Alma Solis put in a season-high 6 blocks, adding to her team-leading 35 blocks on the season. The first-year Buc has recorded a block in 14-of-17 matches for CBU.
- With two Bucs in double-digit kills, Calah Jackson's 12 and Maddi Rowley's 10, CBU has now had at least two players with double-digit kills in a match. The other two times cam against Truman State, Solis 14 and Rowley 11, and Mississippi College, Jackson 15, Allen 11, and Rowley 11.
