HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first set was a back-and-forth affair in which Christian Brothers emerged victorious. There were two significant momentum shifts. UWA scored five consecutive points to go up 14-11 immediately before CBU went on a 7-1 run to take an 18-15 lead. Alma Solis smashed back-to-back kills on the tail end of the run. The Lady Bucs maintained the lead afterwards and finished strong to take the opening set, 25-22.
  • In the second set, West Alabama maintained a slight advantage over Christian Brothers throughout and was able to come out on top, 25-21.
  • The third set onwards was all CBU. A 12-2 run in the third set positioned the Lady Bucs for a comfortable 25-16 win. They strung together five-straight kills towards the beginning of the dominant stretch and capped it with an ace by Rathheim-Hilton. Christian Brothers then utilized a 7-1 run midway through the fourth set to cruise to a 25-18 victory and claim the match. Thornell setup Schumacher for a power-packed kill to put the match to rest.
