Women's Soccer scores in stifled comeback effort against Spring Hill

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Christian Brothers University women's soccer (0-12-0, 0-8-0 GSC) was defeated, 3-1, by Spring Hill College (7-6-2, 4-4-2 GSC) on Sunday afternoon at Signaigo Field. The Lady Bucs snapped their four-match scoring drought with a goal in the 77th minute. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CBU's Lia Haggstrom took the first shot of the game in the third minute which went past the right post.
  • The Badgers retaliated with a shot on goal which was spectacularly saved by Gemma Crowe in the seventh minute.
  • In the 14th minute, a pass from Spring Hill's Valeria Martinez to teammate Hannah Fromme led to the opening goal of the game, 1-0.
  • Alyssa Costley tried to go for goal for Christian Brothers but it went wide in the 31st minute.
  • Poppy Binding doubled the lead for the Badgers two minutes into the second half, 2-0. Teammate Felicia Ajayi provided the assist.
  • Cammie Jernigan cut the lead in half, 2-1, with a headed goal off a corner kick in the 77th minute. Ana Dutra sent the ball in from the corner to receive credit for the assist.
  • Alexa Franklin nearly found the equalizer for CBU in the 86th minute but her shot was saved by the opposing keeper.
  • Alexa Pratt scored the third goal for the Badgers in the 87th minute to make the draw unattainable for the Lady Bucs.

CBU will head to Auburn-Montgomery (3-7-2, 1-6-1 GSC) on Friday Oct. 25 for a 5 p.m. contest next.
