MEMPHIS, TN. – On a spooky Friday night inside Canale Arena, the Christian Brothers University volleyball team turned Halloween into a night to remember, rallying past Auburn Montgomery in a five-set thriller (20–25, 25–23, 25–14, 17–25, 15–11). The victory pushed the Lady Bucs to 10–17 overall and 5–11 in Gulf South Conference play.
After dropping the opening set, CBU responded with strong second and third frames, fueled by crisp passing and a balanced attack. The Lady Bucs hit .218 in set two and an impressive .385 in set three, turning defense into offense to swing the match in their favor.
Senior Ella Schumacher led the way with 15 kills and 17.5 total points, while Addison Waggoner added 13 kills, 14 points, and a steady presence at the net. Sarah Helms made her mark with seven kills, three blocks, and a service ace, while Calah Jackson contributed six kills and four blocks in the middle. Setter Carleiny Morillo ran the offense with 35 assists and chipped in 16 digs on the defensive end.
Defensively, Sophia Nowacki anchored the back row with a team-high 23 digs, helping hold the Warhawks to a .091 hitting percentage for the match.
After AUM forced a decisive fifth set, the Lady Bucs kept their composure late, using a 4–0 run to close out the match 15–11 and send the crowd of 110 home cheering.
The win gives Christian Brothers momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play as they look to finish the season strong.
