Oklahoma City, OK- Christian Brothers University hit the floor Sunday afternoon in Edmond looking to build momentum, but a tough shooting night and a blazing first quarter from Oklahoma Christian proved too much to overcome as the Lady Bucs fell 63–40 at the Eagles' Nest.
OC came out on fire, pouring in 25 first-quarter points while holding CBU to just 7. The Lady Bucs struggled to find rhythm early, shooting 1-for-15 in the opening period and facing heavy defensive pressure that led to turnovers and transition buckets for the Eagles.
But CBU never backed down.
Second-Quarter Surge Shows Fight
The Lady Bucs tightened the defense in the second quarter, holding OC to a more manageable 15 points and getting much-needed energy from Darling Harris, who powered in back-to-back scores at the rim. Harris gave CBU a spark all afternoon, finishing with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, one of the most complete performances for CBU.
Alice Conrad added her own lift, attacking the basket and knocking down free throws on her way to a team-high 12 points, along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Despite the push, Oklahoma Christian continued to knock down timely shots, including a pair of late threes that extended the halftime deficit.
CBU's Best Stretch Comes After the Break
The Lady Bucs put together their best basketball in the third quarter, outscoring OC in second-chance points and showing toughness on the glass. Teuila Faalogo anchored the interior with a gritty 10-rebound performance and both of CBU's blocks.
Freshman guard Hanne Alvarez Verdaguer added 4 points and moved the ball well, while Mya Bourget battled defensively and contributed 2 steals and 5 points despite OC's pressure.
Finishing Strong
CBU closed the game with its highest-scoring quarter, putting up 14 points in the fourth behind aggressive drives and solid ball movement. Harris, Conrad, and Emily Sawyer all helped CBU close the game on a strong note, refusing to let the team quit despite the early deficit.
