Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Tough Night: CBU Continues to Build

Clinton, MS- Christian Brothers hit the road Thursday evening for their Gulf South Conference opener at Mississippi College, battling through momentum swings and showing stretches of toughness despite a cold shooting night. The Bucs stayed competitive early, forcing turnovers and finding offense in the paint as Alice Conrad set the tone with strong drives to the basket. Her energy carried throughout the night, finishing with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals in one of her most complete performances of the season.

CBU continued to fight through defensive pressure, leaning on Emily Sawyer, who knocked down mid-range jumpers and worked the glass for key rebounds. Mya Bourget provided a spark in transition, while Darling Harris added hustle plays and timely rebounds to keep the Bucs within striking distance.

Mississippi College caught fire from behind the arc, using a strong shooting performance to create separation as the game progressed. Even with the Choctaws' hot shooting, CBU's defensive activity never dipped, forcing 21 turnovers and showing effort across all four quarters.

Late in the game, the Bucs finished with pride, executing well in the half court and continuing to get solid production from both starters and bench players. Harris, Lipscomb, and Sawyer all contributed on both ends, helping CBU close the night on a positive note.

Despite the final score, the Bucs walked away with plenty to build on: defensive energy, strong interior play, and individual performances that show the growth of this young team. As conference play continues, CBU's effort, competitiveness, and commitment to improving remain clear signs of what's ahead for the group.
