Memphis, TN- Christian Brothers showed resilience and heart Thursday night at Canale Arena, continuing to fight for all 40 minutes against Delta State and finding encouraging signs to build on as the season moves forward.
Despite a challenging first half, the Buccaneers never stopped competing. The tone shifted after halftime, when CBU came out with renewed energy and delivered its best stretch of the night in the third quarter. The Buccaneers matched Delta State point for point in the period, 16–16, showcasing improved ball movement, tougher defense, and confident shot-making.
Maria Braga provided a spark offensively, knocking down timely jumpers and leading the way with 10 points. CBU responded by tightening up defensively and limiting second-chance opportunities in the second half.
The effort was consistent across the roster. The Buccaneers shared the ball, attacked the paint, and continued to compete on every possession, even as the score stretched late. The third-quarter response was a clear step forward and reflected the team's growth, toughness, and belief in one another.
Christian Brothers will look to carry that momentum into its next outing, using the second-half fight as a foundation moving forward. The progress is there, and the Buccaneers continue to push, learn, and compete together.
