Memphis, TN- Christian Brothers came painfully close to pulling off a road win on Wednesday night, battling until the final minutes before falling 63–58 to AUM in Montgomery. Despite trailing for much of the evening, the Buccaneers showed plenty of fight, turning the game into a one possession contest late in the fourth quarter.
CBU kept itself within striking distance all night by controlling the paint and answering every AUM run with one of its own. The Buccaneers outscored the Warhawks 36–24 inside and leaned on balanced scoring to stay close. After going into halftime down eight, CBU came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring AUM 19–11 and cutting the deficit to just three heading into the final period.
Donee' Frazier led the charge with a game high 18 points, shooting an efficient 6-of-9 from the field and attacking the rim relentlessly. Maria Braga provided a spark with 12 points and steady play on both ends, while Alice Conrad added nine points and key defensive pressure that helped fuel the third quarter surge. Anastasija Cernova chipped in seven points and knocked down timely shots that kept momentum from slipping away.
The game remained tight deep into the fourth, with CBU pulling within a single possession multiple times, but AUM's late free throws proved to be the difference. Even so, the Buccaneers never backed down, continuing to pressure defensively and create quality looks until the final horn.
While the result did not go their way, the effort told a bigger story. Christian Brothers showed how close they are to turning narrow losses into wins, putting together one of their most complete performances of the season and proving they can compete until the very end.
