Buccaneers Sweep Tournament Titles in Coach Victoria Jackson’s First Tournament Win

Savannah, GA- The Christian Brothers University women's golf team battled through three strong rounds at Crosswinds Golf Club and finished tied for first, forcing a full team playoff against Milligan University. The Lady Buccaneers held their composure under pressure and won the playoff to claim the tournament title.

The win marked the first victory for head coach Victoria Jackson, who praised her team's effort and resilience.

"I am extremely proud of both of my teams and how hard they have been practicing to prepare for this season," Jackson said. "I think this tournament, we were feeling confident, and it helped that the team chemistry on the way to Savannah was so strong."

CBU opened the tournament Monday with a team score of 308, led by Jordan Pigeon's 73 (+1) and Cesilee Mokry's 75 (+3). Chloe Williamson added a 79 (+7), while Emma Butler finished with an 81 (+9).

Later that day, the Buccaneers posted a 319 as Butler led the lineup with a 79 (+7). Williamson followed with a 77 (+5), while Pigeon and Mayte Ortiz both recorded rounds of 81 and 82, respectively.

CBU closed the tournament on Tuesday with a 316 team score. Mokry delivered the round of the day with an impressive 68 (-4). Butler added an 80, Pigeon shot an 82, and Williamson finished with an 86.

After finishing tied for first overall, the tournament came down to a full team playoff against Milligan. Jackson said she was proud of how the team handled the moment.

"My women's team worked very hard," Jackson said. "I was very impressed by how everyone made sure to keep fighting to the very end. All five of the girls did such a great job playing through the nerves and ended up taking home the win."

The playoff victory secured the tournament championship for the Lady Buccaneers.

Men's Tournament

The CBU men's golf team also delivered a strong performance, winning the tournament after three consistent rounds at Crosswinds Golf Club.

The Buccaneers opened play Monday with a team score of 299, led by Brandon Clark's 73 (+1). Nathan Harms and Kevin Feng each added rounds of 74 (+2), while Nathan London posted a 78 (+6).

In the second round later that day, CBU improved with a team score of 294. Jack Clarke and London both shot even-par 72 to lead the field, while Harms and Feng each recorded rounds of 75 (+3).

CBU closed the tournament on Tuesday with a 305. Feng led the team with a 73 (+1), while Harms and London each finished with rounds of 75 (+3). Clarke added an 82.

Jackson credited the men's focus and preparation throughout the event.

"My men's team did a great job of staying focused all three rounds," Jackson said. "We had a great team meeting after the first day, and all of the guys were in a good mental space for our last round. We also had players finish third, fourth, and fifth."

With both the men's and women's teams capturing tournament titles, the event marked a strong start to the season for the Buccaneers and a milestone first win for Jackson.

"Overall, I am very proud of both teams," Jackson said. "I think this is a great first step to see what else we can accomplish this season."
