CBU Shows Fight, Delta State Claims Wins in Memphis

Men's Match Recap

Memphis, TN- The Christian Brothers men came out strong and set the tone early with an impressive sweep in doubles play. The trio of Benjamin Hanriot and Alexandre Randoux, Justin Martin and Benjamin Hanriot, and Miguel Perez Habib alongside Ernesto Pico each secured wins to give CBU a 1-0 lead.

That early momentum highlighted a key strength for the Buccaneers, as they executed well across all three doubles courts.

In singles play, Delta State responded with a deep and consistent lineup. Players like Marti Cerda Castillo, Valentin Greco, Juan Diego Alzate, and Simon Ojed each picked up wins to swing the match.

CBU continued to compete across the lineup, with Benjamin Hanriot, Alexandre Randoux, and Miguel Perez Habib battling in their respective matches, but Delta State ultimately pulled ahead to take the 6-1 decision.

Despite the final score, the Buccaneers' doubles sweep was a clear highlight and something to build on moving forward.

Women's Match Recap

On the women's side, CBU faced a tough Delta State squad but found a bright spot at the top of the singles lineup.

Valerie Neumann delivered a strong performance at No. 1 singles, earning CBU's lone point with a straight-set victory, including a tight tiebreak finish. Her win stood out as a confident and composed effort against a competitive opponent.

In doubles play, the Buccaneers saw efforts from Neha Dandu and Raheen Taranum and the pairing of Fernanda Garcia-Galvez and Valerie Neumann, but Delta State was able to secure the opening point.

Delta State carried that momentum into singles behind players such as Trinity Ly, Yasmina Mayer, and Anastasiia Iakovlieva, who helped close out the match.

Even so, CBU showed fight throughout the lineup, continuing to compete in each position and picking up a key individual win from Neumann.

Both teams will look to build on the positives, especially strong individual performances and doubles play, as they continue through conference competition.
