Memphis, TN- Christian Brothers University outlasted Blue Mountain Christian University 9 to 8 in eight innings in a high-scoring opener.
Blue Mountain finished with 8 runs on 9 hits and no errors. Christian Brothers answered with 9 runs on 18 hits and committed 2 errors.
CBU scored first in the opening inning on an RBI single by Mackenzie Gieseler that brought home Mandie Barrow.
Blue Mountain responded with three runs in the second, highlighted by home runs from Aspen Teague and Bre Ramsey to take a 3 to 1 lead.
Christian Brothers tied the game in the third on a two-run home run by Kate Candies. CBU added two more runs in the fourth on RBI singles from Dakota Davis and Mandie Barrow to go up 5 to 3.
Blue Mountain surged ahead in the sixth with five runs. The big play came when Anna Harriso reached on an error that allowed three runs to score. Mikaylah Fuqua later added an RBI single to make it 8 to 5.
CBU answered again in the sixth as Candies hit her second two-run home run of the game, cutting the deficit to 8 to 7. In the seventh, Kamryn Neely singled home Ashley Williamson to tie the game at 8.
In the eighth inning, Katelyn Harmon delivered a walk off RBI single that scored Marin Beeson and secured the 9 to 8 win.
Candies led the way, going 3 for 4 with two home runs and 4 RBIs. Barrow finished 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Williamson added four hits, including a double and a triple.
Game 2, Blue Mountain 6, Christian Brothers 6
The second game ended in a 6-to-6 tie after seven innings.
Blue Mountain recorded 6 runs on 11 hits and 1 error. Christian Brothers totaled 6 runs on 10 hits and had 3 errors.
Blue Mountain built an early lead, scoring once in the first, twice in the second, once in the third, and twice in the fourth to go up 6 to 3.
Christian Brothers stayed within reach. Katelyn Harmon homered in the first inning, doubled and drove in a run in the third, then hit a two-run home run in the fifth to make it 6 to 5.
In the seventh inning, Harmon tied the game again with her third home run of the day, finishing 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 3 home runs, and 5 RBIs in the game.
Mackenzie Gieseler added 2 hits and an RBI for CBU.
In the circle, Vivian Watts allowed 6 runs over 4 innings, while Emily Schooler threw 3 scoreless innings in relief, striking out 4.
