Bucs Explode Early, Hold Off Late Rally to Claim Series Opener

Game 1: Christian Brothers 9, Valdosta State 8
Christian Brothers jumped in front with a dominant third inning and held on late to secure a 9-8 win over Valdosta State.

After two scoreless frames, the Bucs broke the game open in the third, plating six runs on timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. RBI efforts from Mandie Barrow, Kate Candies, and Mackenzie Gieseler highlighted the surge, while Gieseler capped the inning by stealing home to make it 5-0. CBU added another run in the fourth and extended the lead to 8-0 in the sixth on Barrow's two-run home run.

Valdosta State responded late, scoring three runs in the sixth and erupting for five more in the seventh to tie the game at 8-8. Despite the momentum shift, the Bucs held on long enough to secure the win, with Emily Schooler earning the victory after striking out seven across 6.1 innings.

Gieseler led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, while Barrow drove in three, including her sixth-inning homer. Marin Beeson also stood out, scoring three runs and reaching base four times.

Game 2: Valdosta State 8, Christian Brothers 4
Christian Brothers collected 12 hits but could not overcome a big third inning from Valdosta State, falling 8-4 in game two.

The Bucs chipped away early, tying the game at 3-3 in the third behind a solo home run from Katelyn Harmon and an RBI single from McKenzie Shinabery. However, Valdosta State responded immediately with a five-run third inning, powered by two home runs, to take control.

CBU continued to produce offensively, with Kate Candies and Mackenzie Gieseler each recording three hits, but struggled to convert opportunities into runs. The Bucs added one more in the fifth but were held scoreless the rest of the way.

Game 3: Valdosta State 6, Christian Brothers 2
In the series finale, Christian Brothers was unable to recover from an early deficit, falling 6-2.

After trading runs in the first two innings, Valdosta State broke through with a four-run second inning, highlighted by a grand slam that proved to be the difference. The Bucs managed just two runs, both unearned, and were limited to six hits.

Dakota Davis led CBU at the plate with two hits, while Mandie Barrow and Kate Candies each added a hit. Emily Schooler took the loss in the circle, allowing six runs, four earned, over 4.2 innings.

Christian Brothers showed offensive firepower throughout the series, particularly in the opener, but Valdosta State's timely hitting in the final two games secured the series win.
